  • Experience painting, collage, sculpture and printing as well as portraits, landscape, still life, abstract, conceptual.
  • Draw from observation and from their imagination.
  • Develop hand-eye coordination & motor-skills.
  • Explore a variety of materials including found, recycled and natural.
  • Be encouraged to solve problems creatively.
  • Understand that art is a process that takes time and care.
  • Learn the basics of color theory.
  • Express oneself creatively making art
  • Combine art with literacy making art insoired by books
  • Understand the tradition of craft where artisans use materials such as wood, glass and stone to create everyday functional art.
  • Realize that buildings, clothing, and products have been designed by artists and architects - and that all of them are viable careers in the arts.

Rick Anthony Diaz has been teaching drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, printing and design since 1995. He has taught kindergarten to high school in a variety of venues including public and private schools, museums, community centers and after-school programs in the New York City metropolitan area.
